This talk will describe the world's first operational wide area-integrated air defence system, Chain Home, which was developed at Bawdsey in Suffolk. It will cover both the history and technology of the Chain Home system and end with a short description of the new exhibition on Chain Home in the Bawdsey Manor estate.
The 'Marconi Tower' at the BAE Systems site in Great Baddow, Chelmsford is the only surviving, unmodified example of a Chain Home radar tower.
