Deep Sky and Eclipse Photography

Speaker: Roger Pittock (Secretary, Chelmsford Science and Engineering Society)

Capturing the wonders of deep sky objects to produce pretty pictures is a fascinating hobby that continues to excite us. The technological advances in equipment and new techniques that have been pioneered since we started back in the mid-1980s continue to astound. The first half of this presentation gives a basic introduction to what's out there in the night sky, the different techniques and equipment that one uses to capture one's own images.

Whilst much of the above applies to photography of a solar eclipse, there are some fundamental differences too. The second half of the evening briefly outlines the similarities and differences, and, time permitting, Roger will run a video showing the highlights of his first solar eclipse experience in 2006.

Refreshments will be available before the talk from 19:00.

This talk will be followed by the 2018 CSES Annual General Meeting (AGM).
