Marconi 2020 Archive Project
Venue: Quaker Meeting House | City: Chelmsford, United Kingdom
A fascinating talk by Martin Astell, Essex Record Office (ERO) Manager
The Essex Record Office (ERO) holds tens of thousands of photographs from the Marconi Company, dating from the 1890s to the 1970s, most of which are glass plate negatives. Chelmsford Museums also hold thousands of images relating to the Marconi Company. This huge image collection is currently largely inaccessible to the public. In this talk Marten Astell will discuss the ERO and Chelmsford Museums' plans to work together, and with community groups, to preserve and open up this wealth of photographic evidence, assessing and celebrating the contribution of the Marconi Company to our modern wireless world.
