World Space Observatory Ultraviolet – WSO-UV

Speaker: Chris Hayes-Thakore (Systems Engineer, Teledyne e2v)

The overall aim of this space telescope is to enable the study of the universe in the ultraviolet wavelength over the course of a 5-year operational lifetime. This will further our understanding in various fields, including evolution of the early universe, stellar physics and extrasolar planets and their atmospheres. This talk will look at some of the challenges faced and trade-offs made in meeting key performance and environmental requirements for the sensor solution for the focal plane array for this project.

Refreshments will be available before the talk from 18:00.
